Style and Substance – Magazine + Photojournalistic

Issue 3 – It’s not very often that one gets to photograph another photographer’s wedding.  Winter wonderlands, studio shooting, Starbucks run (a favorite activity of mine), arabic ceremony and belly dancers only touch the surface of part of the day.

When someone asks me what kind of style I have for my photography I  try to explain that it’s really not just one style but a mixture of a few in my eyes.  I love drama and wide angles, different landscapes and simplistic backgrounds, giving some direction but not too much while still capturing the emotion of the day. Someone once wrote “the beauty of a photograph is in the eye of the beholder” and that stays with me every time I shoot.  But the reality is that I have to take my photographs with my eyes, gut instinct, creativity and occasional technical training I know exists for a reason and try to capture what I think is magic and gives me “that indescriptable (new STEPH word spelled wrong no doubt) feeling.”

Thank you to Dalia + Haitham for an incredible day!
