Long Distance Love as seen by a Halifax Wedding Photographer

When I first met Stephanie, I’ll admit I was a little intimidated as she asked me quite a few questions on her “Wedding Photography Questionnaire” list that I’m sure I’ve seen a couple of times in Wedding Bells.  I loved that she was thorough and upfront with what she wanted from her Wedding Photography and had no problems telling me what she liked, loved and didn’t like.   We had a great time at their Engagement Shoot and I finally got to meet Mike since they were/are maintaining a long distance relationship. Wow I give true kudos to couples that can sustain long distance relationships because anyone that has experienced that – can no doubt attest to the sometimes trying times of communication issues & the hard pangs of missing one another.  That can’t be easy.

But Stephanie & Mike looked like they’d never been apart a day in 8 years on their wedding day.

I would certainly be remiss to not mention that Kobi looked ever so dashing in his tuxedo as their proud 5 3/4 yr old West Highland Terrier walking down the aisle… he only started to run away from my Canon as he spotted a squirrel at the Irving Centre when we were starting the family portraits – I really can’t compete with animals it’s unfair.:)

Their reception at the  Ken-Wo Golf Club was nothing short of fabulous with gorgeous fall theme inspired decor by a family friend, Pat Casey.   I LOVE LOVE fall weddings as its my favourite time of year next to summer (OK that would technically make it my 2nd favourite time o’ year…) but let’s face it the fall colours are simply stunning and Stephanie rocked her dress like no other.  For a few smashing black and whites, look below & then check out their Collection of Highlights in colour & bw from October 8th!

PHOTOJOURNALISTIC BEAUTY – Stephanie’s mom sewed a part of her wedding dress at the base of Stephanie’s wedding dress – that’s beautiful…

The Great Pumpkin

Couldn’t resist this teaser for Stephanie & Mike who were married on a perfectly beautiful Fall Day, October 8, 2011 in Kentville, NS.  More photos to come soon… hold onto your pumpkins (sorry Mike my mistake I handed it to you upside down…it still looks good;)

Shannon & JR

What I loved about Shannon and JR was that they were soooo funny together – sarcastic and fun loving!  They always seemed to be cracking jokes not only at their Engagement Session but on their Wedding Day too – their speeches and slideshows during the reception were hilarious and quite memorable as well.  The decor at Ashburn Golf Course was beautiful thanks to Grand Beginnings and the cupcakes were delicious! Shannon’s dress was stunning and elegant and I loved her hair in the pulled back braid.  JR and his groomsmen had their photos taken before the ceremony at Dalhousie University where they used to play soccer and Shannon & her bridesmaids got ready at the decadent Lord Nelson Hotel.  Enjoy the slideshow for the longer version and highlights below!
