I met Suzanne this past summer when she booked me for her 2012 wedding and I was so glad I would soon meet Jason & we could all hook up at the end of December for an Engagement session. I love to get to know my clients before their wedding date comes & we were lucky enough to have decent weather where we could go outside for a few shots and also stroll along the downtown waterfront. Suzanne & Jason live in Nunavut so they are completely used to below (far below) 0 temperatures but I’m a bit of a baby (as per my husband) when it comes to winter weather at times. I thought about putting Hot Pockets in my mittens when I shot outside but I guess they stopped selling those in the 1990′s or something.
As we shot indoors at St. Mary’s (Suzanne is a teacher
I felt a pang of missing my old university days at Western in London, Ontario (don’t hate). That pang quickly faded when I remembered the never ending oatmeal & big 1000 calories chocolate chip muffins I ate because I downsized my meal plan in order to save money yet still managed to gain 20 pounds in my 1st yr.
I love using architectural aspects of a building in my photography work and St. Mary’s Atrium glass roof and winding staircases did not disappoint. This 3 storey living wall is jaw-dropping & contains approx. 1,100 plants and is one of the largest living walls in the world! Sneak a peek at their slideshow if you want to see more of their eshoot… looking so forward to photographing this wedding in August!

If you could have a “creative photo shoot” anywhere in Halifax where would you want your picture taken?
